COASTAL K9 GERMAN SHEPHERD RESCUE
of SAN DIEGO

You've heard the stories of the dog who loves and even trusts everyone, despite what they've been through. Morticia isn't that girl. She isn't able to tell us what she's been through, but she shows us every day that mankind has let her down.

When Tisha was picked up as a stray, she had four days for someone to claim her or to be added to "the list." She had already been labeled "Needs Rescue". Those are the only notes anyone bothered to write for her in the shelter. No vaccinations necessary. She wouldn't be there long. They were right, she wasn't there long, not for the reasons they thought. She got a second chance.

Sometimes, when the dog in the shelter "Needs Rescue," they get exactly what they need. She got labeled, "Rescue is coming for you, Baby", and on day 10, she joined Coastal K9 German Shepherd Rescue. It hasn't been easy for her, though. Anyone could just spend one moment with her and see how frightened she was. She would come close for a treat, but even the treat couldn't coax her all the way. She stood back waiting for it to be tossed in her direction.

"I don't know much about her." She has her friends, "She doesn't warm up easily," things we often hear when we ask about Morticia. But then one day we heard something different. "For those who are patient enough to sit with Morty until she is comfortable, the puppy side comes out." Yes, Morticia, Tisha, has friends. And with this special friend who calls her Morty, life is fun. She takes treats gently from her hand. She even makes her friend feel good when she plays with a ball. Best of all, she falls to her back on the ground, and she rolls around on the grass, only to stop for a few moments as though frozen in time, soaking in the sunshine.

"She is a sweet girl who has her handful of people she really loves," that is what her friend, who calls her Morty, says about her. And when she sees those friends, she will not look away. Her loyalty is deep and true, and for those friends, Tisha will move heaven and earth to get to them.

Even with the small group of friends, there is one special friend in Tisha's life, a man she trusts more than anything. She can feel him coming before she even sees him. Maybe she can hear the familiar footsteps, smell the familiar fragrance that can only be him. She just knows it's him, and when the two greet, Tisha dances with joy. She dances with joy for that special friend. If you asked him what the most special thing about Morticia, "It is how excited she gets when she sees me."

This sweet little girl protects her heart with all of her soul, but she knows when the person is touching her, not because they feel sorry for her, but because they want to get to know her. She doesn't give out her trust easily, but when she trusts you, you will know it, and you will feel just as special as you make her feel.

For once in her life, Tisha has been given hope, peace, and love, and to those who know her best, Tisha is pure Christmas. She didn't spend it in a warm home, but she spent it safely, in a warm bed, with friends. It is all of our hope that the New Year will bring her that forever home that she so desperately needs. Until then, her friends promise to fill her days with lots of belly rubs, treats, and only happy dances.

This dog is new to the rescue. More information will be posted as it becomes available.
