COASTAL K9 GERMAN SHEPHERD RESCUE
of SAN DIEGO

Dreamer - someone who imagines, hopes, or plans for things, even if those things may never come true.

Dreamer came to us over a year ago in the dark of night as her mom gave birth to her and her brothers and sisters. We watched as she took her first breath, her first cry, her first little bark. She watched as her sisters and brothers were adopted and found their forever homes. We watched as she celebrated her first birthday.

Dreamer is still waiting for her home to come along, dreaming of what it might be like to have a family of her own. But she doesn't wait alone. Dreamer knows that she isn't alone. She is surrounded by other dogs in the rescue, dogs that she loves, one especially, her mother, Asha, who is always near, watching over Dreamer, just waiting until her last baby goes home to find a home of her own.

Dreamer is a lot like her mom. She loves other dogs. She loves to play and would play nonstop if she could. She loves to climb the stairs in the play yard and stand on the platform and watch everyone below. She loves to stick her head into the water when she drinks. She loves to run. She loves her human friends. Like her mom, if she sees one of her special friends from a distance, her whole body wiggles until she can get close enough just to jump up and give them a hug and a kiss. She doesn't forget a friend.

To someone watching Dreamer at the Ranch with her Coastal family, she would appear to be the most confident dog in the world. Her confidence comes with time in new places. She can be shy with new people initially. She can be frightened in new surroundings. We know that going to a new home will be a transition for her until she feels safe in her new surroundings. That is one of the reasons that we are looking for a home with another dog for Dreamer, one who can run and play with her, but one who can also help her feel safe. Dreamer feels safe with another dog.

Dreamer needs an active home who can make sure she gets the exercise she needs with her people and with her canine companion. She does have more energy than a lot of dogs her age, but she isn't hyper. With enough exercise, both physical and mental, and a partner to play with, she is happy to calm down and lay in your lap, sit by your side, and continue to dream.

We know that her family is out there. She will know when she meets them that they are the one. Until then, she will be playing with her dog friends, never out of sight of her mom, Asha, who is dreaming that her baby will find her family and that she too will find her home when she knows Dreamer is finally home.

If you are interested in meeting this dog, please fill out our online application first. Contact us via email at info@coastalK9gsr.org. The minimum adoption donation ranges from $350 to $500. This amount only partially covers the cost of veterinary care, boarding fees, and other miscellaneous expenses involved in the temporary care and adoption of our dogs and is tax deductible. Prior to placement, all dogs will be spayed or neutered, receive current vaccinations, and are usually microchipped. If not, arrangements will be made on an individual basis. Special consideration may be given to those willing to adopt older dogs or dogs with physical problems.
