Sven is currently living the good life with us at the Ranch while he waits for his forever home, and trust us—he’s made himself right at home. This affectionate, people-loving Swiss Shepherd has a heart as big as his fluffy white frame, and he’s never met a volunteer he didn’t adore. His idea of a perfect day? Plopping onto your lap (or face) for kisses, flopping belly-up for rubs, and soaking up every bit of affection you're willing to give.
Sven isn’t high energy. He’s more of a laid-back love bug who enjoys being part of the action. We bring Sven to meetings at the Ranch and he settles right in, just happy to be a part of the group. Sven will play ball, but it’s more of a one-way game. He’s happy to chase the ball, but bring it back for another toss, not so much. Sven is a bit goofy and he’s got a sense of humor, and it shows. “Clown” might as well be his middle name.
This sweet boy walks with other Coastal dogs in a pack at the ranch. He does well with female dogs. He definitely does not like macho male dogs. Sven does have one quirky habit—he still mouths gently like a 5-month-old puppy although in his case his mouthing is soft and gentle. A simple, soft “no” and he’s quick to understand.
Sven is loyal, emotive, endlessly cuddly, and the kind of dog who makes it very, very hard not to fall in love. If you’re looking for an oversized teddy bear who will stick by your side, Sven just might be your dog.
If you are interested in meeting this dog, please fill out our online application first. Contact us via email at info@coastalK9gsr.org. The minimum adoption donation ranges from $350 to $500. This amount only partially covers the cost of veterinary care, boarding fees, and other miscellaneous expenses involved in the temporary care and adoption of our dogs and is tax deductible. Prior to placement, all dogs will be spayed or neutered, receive current vaccinations, and are usually microchipped. If not, arrangements will be made on an individual basis. Special consideration may be given to those willing to adopt older dogs or dogs with physical problems.
