Sapphire's Sasha

Hello everyone!

Sasha may look like a German Shepherd to some, but she has her other side, the dominant side, her Maligator side.  She watched her littermates get adopted and go to their forever home.  While she is the only one left, she hasn't been lonely.  She has been living in a foster home with a big sister to show her the ropes and be her doggie mentor, two foster parents who are working on her training, something that is critical for a puppy like Sasha..

If we were to describe Sasha in three words it would be smart, smarter and smartest.  She learns so quickly.   She has sit down pat.  She's working on down and come.  The down and come is a bit more of a challenge for Sasha.  She knows the commands, especially come, but this sweet little mischief will look back at you and smile and then continue on her merry way, running across the yard to explore.  Her favorite game is to jump on the hillside where she knows she is not allowed.  She has mastered the railroad ties that have blocked others from getting to the badlands and she is able to leap over them in a single bound and hunt for little leafs, tiny rocks and other nuggets, all while watching her foster mom or dad come to get her, then smiling as she sprints further away.  Thankfully, she has not yet mastered the 6 foot fence that surrounds her yard.

We are also working on her social skills.  She is still a bit frightened of meeting new people and dogs and she lets it be known with her not so tiny voice.  After she settles down with the other dogs, she is ready to run and play.

Sasha's home must have an outgoing confident dog to help be her bridge to everything unknown, her doggie mentor.  She is good at monkey-see-monkey-do, and we know the dog in her forever home will be key to her mastering all of the traits of a good dog.

One might wonder about the energy of little Sasha.  Wonder no more.  She would tire out the Energizer Bunny and then ask you if you have extra batteries.  If you wonder about whether she has the energy of a German Shepherd or a Malinois, think of a marathon.   In the human world, there are runners who run marathons and then there are sprinters who run full speed but at a shorter distance.  Sasha says, don't worry about shortening the course.  She has three speeds, fast, faster and fastest, and then just when you think she's tired, there is a fourth.  We haven't figured out the name for that one yet, maybe warp speed.

Sasha needs a home that is ready for all of the above but in return, she does have her softer side.  She loves to cuddle with you.  Maybe that's where the German Shepherd DNA comes in.  She  likes to pretend she's a lap dog too.
