Hi Everyone!
Mystic is another one of our dogs who was found as a stray, waited in the shelter for her family to come and take her home, and when they didn't come, the shelter called Coastal to see if we could rescue her.
Our petite little girl has been quite the mystery since she has been with us. Our volunteers are spending as much time as they can getting to know her so we can find the right home for her. One of Mystic's friends described her as the beautiful glossy coated girl who wants to run the world her way. She is incredibly smart. Another thing about her, wherever she goes, she wants to let the world know that she has arrived. Her new friends are working with her to let her know that sometimes a subtle entrance is better.
She has already learned how to walk and be social with her Coastal pack, although, she does not want to be Tail End Charlie. Out front and center is where she would like to be.
Somewhere in her life, Mystic learned how to play ball with her human friend. Throw the ball for her, and she will retrieve it, drop it in front of you and back away a few steps for you to throw it again. She is very proud of her play skills and runs like a little sprite around the yard, doing somersaults, retrieving the ball, and just showing off for her new friends.

Mystic continues to blossom but continues to be a mystery. When Mystic made her trek from the shelter to Coastal, her traveling partner was Sabrina. We don't know at what point they met, but there was just something about Sabrina that just having her near her gave Mystic comfort. But then Sabrina found a foster home and was no longer there. Mystic was totally lost.
We have tried introducing her to some male dogs to help her find another friend. Her human friends watch and they can see that she wants so much to play, but she has no idea how to play. We think that she may just never have been socialized with other dogs.
If you're confused about Mystic, welcome to the wonderful world of rescue. For dogs like Mystic, there is no owner begging us to help, telling us everything about her so that we can make sure we find the best home. There is no one to tell us exactly how old she is, whether she likes her bed fluffed or prefers a flatter one. There is no one to tell us that she likes to pick her kibble from her bowl one at a time and be a dainty princess or gulps it down like a big tom boy. There is no one to tell us "We really loved her once, but we can't care for her. Please find her a home." No. For dogs like Mystic, everything is a mystery. We do our best to learn about their strengths, their weaknesses, their fears and their safety nets.
We do our best to get to know as much as we can about the dogs who come into our care, and we work very hard to find a forever family for them that understands that there are still things unknown, but will continue to get to know them, to teach them what they have never been taught, to teach them that there is life after loss. If you are willing to take a chance on Mystic and her mysteries, she would very much like to take a chance on you.
