Hi Everyone!
Late last year CHAMP was invited to stay at one of our longtime Foster homes. It’s always nice to get some insight into our dogs who have the opportunity to live in a home environment. So we thought we’d share a little more about him now that he’s been there for a couple months. From his Foster mom,
.
“CHAMP has been a very good boy with us. He really gets along with our dog and they can play for hours. He likes having another friend since he is still very anxious around new people and other dogs. He does tend to react to other dogs when we walk but mostly because our dog does and he mimics her. If I walk him alone, he is better, curious about dogs and people but stays his distance. When we have a visitor to the house, he will bark but doesn’t come close to the person.
.
I try to walk them separately from time to time so he can build his confidence but I can’t always do that. He does pull a lot while walking through our neighborhood, but there are tons of smells vying for his attention with coyotes, rabbits, other dogs, etc. He is much calmer at home. He does have a fairly good recall.
.
CHAMP has become very attached like a shepherd does and follows me everywhere. We are not sure how he reacts to kids or cats. At 3-years old he seems in the prime of his life and has tons of energy. He is a very funny boy, full a personality when he feels safe. He is potty trained and eats very well. A very easy dog to foster. He does not flee or jump fences but is super agile. He likes to stay close to us.”
.
Being a bit nervous in general, CHAMP will need time to adjust to his new forever home. But as you can tell by his Foster mom’s description, he will be a loyal companion to a loving family.
If you are interested in meeting this dog, please fill out our online application first. Contact us via email at information@coastalgsrsd.org. The minimum adoption donation ranges from $300 to $400. This amount only partially covers the cost of veterinary care, boarding fees, and other miscellaneous expenses involved in the temporary care and adoption of our dogs and is tax deductible. Prior to placement, all dogs will be spayed or neutered, receive current vaccinations, and are usually microchipped. If not, arrangements will be made on an individual basis. Special consideration may be given to those willing to adopt older dogs or dogs with physical problems.
