Hi there, my name is Benny! My friends at Coastal K9 came to my rescue when I was just a pup living as a stray up in Riverside. I’ve been at the ranch for a few months and the whole team can tell you, that I’m a different dog today than when I got rescued. While I started life in Riverside around multiple dogs as a stray, they would all agree that I’ve turned into a little gentleman. Growing up, I was around a lot of different dogs but over time I’ve realized that I prefer to have female dogs as my friends. One of my best friends at the ranch is Kinsey who is a small husky; we could chase the ball, swim and play ALL day! While I love to stay active, I also enjoy getting all the belly rubs and love from my human friends at the ranch. Sometimes the volunteers at the ranch will sit on the bench with me and just let me lay in their lap while I relax. I absolutely LOVE people! While I’m on the smaller side of shepherds don’t be fooled – I have just as much energy as the big guys and I love to let people know when I come out for a walk! I’m great at going for walks when it’s just myself and a handler but when other dogs start to bark at me I need a little reminder that everything is okay.
I would love to find a family who is active with a pup that could be my new best friend! We can go on walks, hikes, swim at the pool, check out the beach, play tag…you name it! While I love to have all the attention, I thrive when I have a companion who will “show me the ropes” so a family who has a dog already would be perfect so I can be at ease. I can get a little anxious sometimes when it comes to decision making, so having a buddy who can take the lead really helps!
If you are interested in meeting this dog, please fill out our online application first. Contact us via email at info@coastalK9gsr.org. The minimum adoption donation ranges from $300 to $400. This amount only partially covers the cost of veterinary care, boarding fees, and other miscellaneous expenses involved in the temporary care and adoption of our dogs and is tax deductible. Prior to placement, all dogs will be spayed or neutered, receive current vaccinations, and are usually microchipped. If not, arrangements will be made on an individual basis. Special consideration may be given to those willing to adopt older dogs or dogs with physical problems.
