5yr / Male

Hi Everyone!

ARCHIE is a beautiful and large Sable GSD who is about 5 years old. He has his own special needs which makes it difficult to find that special home that understands and has the ability to provide for what he needs.

ARCHIE has his special volunteer champions who make the extra effort to spend extra time with him while he is at the Ranch. We do our best to make all our dogs life as best as it can be while they are with us but Kennel Life can be tough. Seeing other Coastal Dogs come and go to new homes makes it even harder for this big guy, and we notice the sparkle of hope that used to be in ARCHIE’s eyes slowly fading.

ARCHIE is as friendly and affectionate as he is big. But what we’ve learned about him, that only has revealed itself in a home environment, is that he becomes possessive of his favorite person in the home which then becomes unsustainable for living in harmony.

So ARCHIE’s pool of potential adopters has reduced significantly. What would be best for ARCHIE is to find a home with a single person with no other dogs or family members living in the home. Even with that, the new owner would need the experience or work with a trainer to address his resource guarding issues. It’s a tall order, but we are holding on to hope that there is a special family out there made just right for him.

The nature of Rescue life is hard. Like ARCHIE, there are so many wonderful dogs with big hearts who have been abandoned are out there hoping for a forever home. Also, some like ARCHIE, have some challenges to overcome, but he also has SO MUCH to give.
